The stunning fortress of Arco, castello di Arco, is situated in a magnificent panoramic position as the symbol and icon of the city of Arco. Now part of the interior of the castle receives a new flooring, which is why the fortress remains closed to the public until the first of March.

Lonato del Garda: The sportsfield Centenaro gets a new green grass carpet

The sportsfield of Centenaro is happy about their synthetic grass carpet, which has been inaugurated in the middle of the month giving the sportspeople of the municipality the possibility to continue their sports activities on a new sports ground.

Lombardy: The identification code for holiday lettings (CIR) is introduced

Everybody regularily proposing their Lombardy home as a holiday accomodation on the internet, will soon need an identification number, the so-called CIR. This for more transparency and “quality” in the tourism industry. As of September this year fines of 500–2500 euros are expected in case of non-observance. This measure has been taken as a result of the fact that there are a lot more flats proposed as holiday accomodations on the internet than there are flats registered in the different municipalities as holiday accomodations. The region of Lombardy emphazised that this measure should not be mistaken by a bureaucratic obstacle. The CIR stands for a fair competition and protects tourists against fraudsters. Please ask for a more detailed information at the respective municipality of the Province of Lombardy.

Riva del Garda: The municipality wants to engage their residents in the participation of their decision-making process

The so-called “Bilancio partecipato” provides that the residents of Riva del Garda have the possibility to participate in the decision-making process regarding the investment of 100 000 euros. Until February 15th all residents may submit a proposal by email describing which project they would like to see realized. Photos and plans as well as an approximate expense estimate can be added to the suggestions, a detailed description and motivation for the project must be submitted. The budget may not exceed the sum of 100 000 euros. From the 15th til the 31st of March an online vote takes place. All ideas, that the municipality considers possible as future projects can be voted. It is therefore possible for the population to actively participate in the decision-making process of determining which public places are to be restored next or which renovation works are considered important by the citizens. You can find all further informations on the website of the municipality of Riva del Garda.

Salò: The library reports record figures before even having moved to the new location

The library of Salò will move to a new and more modern building by this coming autumn. The library already now is an important point of reference for events, workshops and the cultural life of the small town. The number of participants of the various events increases steadily. This means that not only the new building awaiting the library is modern, but also the approach of offering cultural initiatives engaging the interest of as many people as possible.

Toscolano Maderno: A new olive cultivar surprises scientists

Lake Garda is a paradise for the Mediterranean flora because of its pleasant microclimate. Scientists are repeatedly surprised by its biodiversity. Now a new and never before catalogued olive cultivar has been discoverd in the Villa Romana of Toscolano Maderno. The trees have been precisely examined. Up until now we know that the olive trees are at least 150 years old and that their olives make a delicious olive oil.
