The beauty of spring on Lake Garda is remarkable, especially when the sky is clear and the landscape delights us with vibrant colours. This last month surprised us with rather cool temperatures and lots of rain, but this just means that Lake Garda’s vegetation will soon come into blossom in an even more spectacular way. With the arrival of the Easter holidays, just like many flowers, life is bursting into a new season – down by the shore as well as everywhere else around the lake.
As always in this period, a lot of restauration, renovation and construction works are taking place around Lake Garda, and of course preparations get done in order to be ready for the tourist season 2018.
Property owners must be looking forward to be able to soon again enjoy their home under the Italian sun. Here a quick reminder: If you are searching for a gardener or any craftsmen, check out our service provider section!
Already in full swing are the restauration works of the south-east part of the castle walls as all safety precautions have been put up. The goal is to restore the entire wall bit by bit. Also some channel constructions are in progress, others in planning stage. Works for the new foot- and cycle path from Via Annibale di Francia to Via Agello have started. The sports ground in Rivoltella gets more changing rooms and the community centre of San Martino is beeing switched to more energy efficiency.
It is a very precious type of grape (at least Lugana or Gropello), which grows in the vineyard on sale situated between the locality Monte Bello and Monte Mario Vecchio. Several buildings amounting to more than 4000 square metres are part of the land, which is proposed as a “small piece of Toscany in Lombardy”. The agency offering the property has its headquarters in Capodistria, Slowenia, and is called Capital Immobili.
In Lazise springtime is going to be turbulent not only because of the arrival of a lot of tourists, but also because there will be at least three construction sites at once at the lake promenade til the end of May in order to build another section of the new lakeside foot- and cyclepath. Already by the end of March the Lungolago Marconi has got its new asphalt paving. During all those building works the municipality is attaching importance to the upkeeping of all trees lining the lake promenade. With the completion of the road works the walk and cycle path will not only be safer, but also more comfortable.
As we already reported in our newsflash of December 2017, the project regarding the glass cube in the middle of the old fortress of Lonato has had some critics. But it is now becoming reality. The exact realisation of the modern building is still being discussed. Fact is that the building will be used for events, congresses, festivities, but also for caterng puposes. It will be an important source of income for further historical or artistical activities of the town, as it belongs to the foundation Ugo da Como, which is responsible for exactly these topics.
At the beginning of March building works for the new spotshall have started. Residents are already looking forward to the completion of the polyfunctional structure. In less than a year the modern sports hall, consisting of more than 8000 square metres, will be accessable for everyone. There will be a big indoor fitness hall, galleries containing an audience of almost 500 people; next to the indoor facilities there are several outdoor surfaces such as a play area and a skatepark.
In our summer 2017 newsflash we reported about the ongoing restauration works of the impressive, overhanging Covoli footbridge, which crosses the gorge of the beautiful Valle delle Cartiere. Now, just in time for the opening of the season, works have been concluded and hikers and bikers can fully enjoy the footbridge.
It was once the only connection between the 300 metre high plain Pieve to the lake, or to the port, until in the year 1913, when the Forra street has been built and the Pieve-Porto hasn’t been used much anymore. For the joy of active tourism this now changes: The municipality invested in the hiking trail. It has been protected from rockfalls and it has even received some solar energy LED ground lights. Now hikers can enjoy a nine kilometre long hiking ring, as they can start their tour in Campione down by the lake, to then arrive in Pregasio in the hinterland, from where they can take the new “201 Sentiero-pieve-porto”, which brings them back to the lake.
