San Zeno resembles a large balcony from where one can enjoy a spectacular view over the whole of the lake. During the hot summer months up here, a good 500 m above sea level, it is always somewhat fresher – a reason for a lot of people to choose this location for their permanent holiday home.
For hikers the altitude of San Zeno offers an ideal starting point for attractive destinations on Monte Baldo. San Zeno and the villages of Lumini and Prada are famous because of the tasty chestnuts grown here, which are the main ingredients of delicious dishes in many excellent trattorias. The chestnut groves are a DOP, which means a nationally protected area of cultivation. Greengrocers, post office, bank as well as a doctor and vet can be found here.
The mountain village on Monte Baldo can be reached from Torri del Benaco via a good road with a lot of bends or via Affi (15 km).
