With its 26.912 inhabitants Desenzano is the largest town on Lake Garda and is not only important for the tourism of the area but also for its economy. Desenzano can boast of its own train station and exit off the A4 Venice-Milan motorway.
The picturesque Piazza Malvezzi by the old harbour with its antique arcades and the lakeside promenade are fascinating. In addition, during the winter months Desenzano does not lie dormant but is almost as lively as during the season. Among other smaller neighbouring villages, San Martino della Battaglia, which is steeped in history, forms part of Desenzano.
Those, planning to settle down or to spend a longer period of time by Lake Garda, do well to decide on Desenzano, as here they have access to everything needed for a permanent residence – from a large selection of schools and nursery schools to a modern hospital with renal dialysis ward.
