Peschiera with its 10.000 inhabitants, located at the south-eastern shore of Lake Garda and on the river Mincio, is one of the larger towns along Lake Garda. It lies on the Verona-Milano railway line, which means that it can easily be reached by train. Moreover, from here one can visit Verona or Venice by train and thus avoid the stressful search for a parking slot.
In the narrow lanes of the old town centre there are numerous restaurants, trattorias and bars, as well as banks and post offices. 16 registered doctors and a well equipped private clinic have a calming effect on those who consider spending their remaining years in this place. The neighbouring villages of Fornaci and San Benedetto di Lugana are part of Peschiera; they are the gate to the wine-growing region Lugana, which is also a very pleasant location to settle down in.
Verona airport is 18 km away; to get to Bergamo airport one has to do ca. 90 km on the motorway.
