The main characteristic of the village of Gargnano are its unique limonaias on the steep slopes. They are beautiful lemon orchards which have given the western shore – from Salò to Limone – its name: “Riviera dei Limoni”. Over the years a lot of these green houses, where lemons were cultivated, have been converted into elegant holiday apartments, some of them are currently being renovated.
Gargnano not only captivates the visitor by its historic villas, it is also a Mecca for sailors. Every year at the beginning of September the sailing regatta “Centomiglia” takes place here. The village of Bogliaco is well-known among golf players: There is a beautiful court with very old trees. Other beautiful residential areas are situated in the villages of Muslone, Navazzo and Villa, Villavetro.
It is easiest to get to Gargnano via the Rovereto south exit off the motorway: then via Riva and Limone, Gargnano is 48 km from the motorway. The romantic old town is an eldorado for sailors and connoisseurs, who prefer a quiet life.
