In the end each local authority has its own regulations concerning the bureaucratic processing of holiday rentals. Usually the local authorities have to be informed of the arrival of each guest within a certain period of time and in the following month a monthly list of all guests including the visitor’s tax has to be sent to the local authority and/or province. It goes without saying that all visitor’s tax earned has to be paid by bank transfer to the local authority.
All income from letting your property as a holiday home is subject to income tax and must therefore be declared in your annual tax return. In order to avoid being declared a commercial supplier by the Italian tax office find out first which services you are entitled to offer as part of a holiday let.
As of June 2017 all intermediaries (online sites included) have to pay the tax of the rental fee to the italian tax authorities on behalf of the property owner. Read more.
