In Italy a property used as secondary residence is called „Casa vacanza“ or “seconda casa“. In this case the primary residence of the owner is registered somewhere else (as “prima casa“) meaning that the owner doesn’t have a “residenza“ in italy but a “domicilio“. To be noted are the somewhat higher fees for electricity, waste collection, municipal tax etc in comparison to having a primary residence. Also the due property transfer tax is higher.
